Frequently Asked Questions

Thank you for your interest in being a part of ROAR Canada’s September 23, 2016 Symposium with Lisa Nichols. We hope the following information provides answers to any questions you may have.

  1. What is ROAR Canada looking for? ROAR Canada is providing an exciting opportunity to individuals who would like to share the stage with Lisa Nichols at the September 23rd, 2016 symposium. We are seeking persons willing to share their stories of triumph in a format that will inspire others.

  2. How will this portion of the event proceed? The selected individuals will have their video played at the Symposium on September 23rd in front of an audience of 500 people. The individuals will be on stage with Lisa while the video plays and then be interviewed live by Lisa for up to ten minutes.

  3. How many individuals will ROAR Canada select? Up to three people will be chosen to participate on the stage with Lisa Nichols for this opportunity.

  4. How do I audition? Prepare a three-minute video and either email us the file or share with us using your favourite file-share program. Please ensure you include your name and contact information at the start or end of your video (this does not count as part of the three minutes). One easy way is to write your name and contact info in black marker on a white sheet of paper and capture it at the start or end of your video. Share using: Dropbox, Vimeo channel, YouTube channel or email. Contact us for alternatives.

  5. What do I do in my video? As long as you can relay your story of triumph in 3 minutes, you can basically do anything you like. The only rules are that you keep it clean - no swearing or obscene gestures, etc. and that you adhere to all copyright requirements of anything you are sharing. Keep in mind that the judging panel will view this video and, if you are selected, it will be shared with the audience at the Symposium. The following is offered as a suggestion for your video, but you are welcome to submit whatever feels comfortable to you:
    *  Introduce yourself – tell us your name, where you live, what you do for a living or for fun (or both).  Most importantly,       tell us why you want to do this.
    *  Share your story of triumph (no longer than 3 minutes in total)
    *  Provide your contact information (correct spelling of your name, email, telephone)

  6. How long is my video audition? Your story of triumph must not exceed 3 minutes in length.  Please see points 4 & 5 above for further details.

  7. What is the deadline to submit? All video submissions must be received by 6:00pm on August 10th, 2016.  Any videos received after this deadline will not be considered.

  8. When will I know if I have been selected? Selection decisions will be made and communicated by August 26, 2016. Only those individuals selected for this opportunity will be contacted.

  9. How does the selection process work? The ROAR Canada selection committee will view your video. The committee may reach out to certain entries for clarification prior to any final decisions being made. If you are contacted for a clarification, it does not ensure you have been selected. The committee will be looking for content, clarity, presentation and relevance to our audience as key areas in the decision-making. Once the individuals have been selected, they will be contacted by a ROAR Canada representative and offered the opportunity to share the stage with Lisa Nichols.

  10. Is there a cost involved? Submitting a video for the audition is free. You are responsible for any costs associated with the preparation of your video and any expenses surrounding your attending the evening event. ROAR Canada is not responsible for any costs you incur in this undertaking.

  11. Are there any other requirements? The selected individuals MUST be available to attend the Symposium on September 23rd, 2016. They will need to arrive at the Ottawa location by 5:00pm. In addition, the selected individuals must meet with the ROAR Canada Founder prior to September 23rd, 2016 for a coaching session to prepare for the live stage event.  At this session, you will be asked to sign a permission sheet granting ROAR Canada the rights to use your video for this event and confirming that you have ownership/permission to use any copyrighted elements in your video. At this time, you will also have the opportunity to ask any additional questions.

  12. Will I have an opportunity to submit a new video prior to the Symposium if I am selected? If you are selected, you will have an opportunity for a coaching session and you may choose to record a new video or use your original submission.
